The place is remote and out in the middle of nowhere. 

This was the mining headquarters and mine site for a Mercury Mine that went out of business during the great depression. Needless to say a lot of miners died from Mercury poisoning so it wasn't exactly a rosie place to work. In fact it sounded very dangerous and unsafe. Here are some random photos from the seller. It is something like 62 acres you would be buying in this transaction. Obviously there are some challenges in purchasing this place. Number 1 question would be is safe, drinkable running water available and what about a waste management and sewer system, also getting rid of trash. The other issue I have looks to be the fact that the buildings are not salvageable. They are more for providing museum pieces for tourists to explore and photograph. Now the temperatures are very hot here as well. I watched a video on youtube where the guy is touring the town of Terlingua in November and it is 80 degrees, so I imagine the temperature is over a 100 degrees in the summer quite often. To build an above ground structure would be a mistake unless the correct materials are used for the structure. When I was in Australia, the temperatures were so hot and extreme that the Australians would build underground homes. Now most of Australia's big cities are on the coast so the temperatures are more comfortable and that is also where the water is. Why would an Australian live in the desert? Well, the desert there has a lot of mining opportunities and they have the best quality Opal you can buy. Now the "Opal Capital of the World"is the  famous mining town of  Coober Pedy and because it is so hot people live underground. You can stay at the underground hotel there called The Underground Motel and also at the Lookout Cave Underground Motel . You can also reference The Underground Home built in Scottsdale, AZ which is quite impressive.
 

Now the Turks have experience living in caves and underground and they have beautiful caves and underground resorts. The Imperial Pool Suites  at the The Museum Hotel Imperial Pool Suites are just too cool for school. Look at those photos.

My favorite underground home/resort idea is one I just discovered today doing research. This self made architect is a genius in my opinion. His name was Baldassare Forestiere who immigrated in 1901 to the United States to Fresno, California. His underground gardens, home, and resort can be toured still today. Like I say, the Villa De La Mina mining site is for sale. It also comes with Mining Shaft you can walk in down to what the realtor called THE HUGH HEFNER GROTTO or whatever.

This is a very different resort investment opportunity but perhaps it is possible to turn it into a cool resort.
