Isn't it a Butte!!! It is a great place to stay if you want to hike to THE SPIRE aka: LONG DONG SILVER The Spire aka Long Dong Silver.

It is a historic area where parts of the C grade exploitation film THE FEMALE BUNCH was filmed: 

The Ranch itself was the infamous Spahn Ranch in California which was used for movie westerns mostly but became more famous for being the headquarters of Charles Manson and his followers from 1967 to 1968. Now the film is terrible but the one good thing it had includes scenes of Goblin Valley 

and Calf Creek Falls Utah 

which are not to far from Hanksville and the Blue Valley Domes. Now the Domes feel remote but you are just 11 miles from Hanksville if you need supplies, fuel, or food. Now lets check out what the Domes look like on the inside.

So you get a small refrigerator, microwave, a small fan, a table with coffeemaker and dishes it appears. They equip the room with board games and some books but there is no television. Now the bathrooms and showers are located in separate buildings close to the domes as seen here.

There are permits to add 5 more units and pads. I wonder if it would be feasible or permitted to add the addition of a swimming pool or hot tub which might be refreshing after a long desert hike. Now here is an excellent video showcasing the domes 

   

Here are 10 cool hikes close to Hanksville which would also apply to the BLUE VALLEY DOMES as well.  Now the desert can be a challenge so you must learn from the down home wisdom of desert rat Chicken House Smith who said, "You can't fight the desert, you just have to learn to get along with it" and perhaps check out the book Desert Hiking by Dave Ganci and remember that 80% of all snake bites are due to alcohol consumption and it's not the snake doing the drinking. Same thing with Gila Monsters, look before you sit because a lot of the bites are on the "derierre" because people sit on them because they camouflage so well on the rocks and they are slow moving creatures so people accidentally sit on them. Having water of course is essential also.
