A resort idea for Terlingua Texas near Big Bend National Park.

Terlingua is an old ghost town near Big Bend National Park. It has a lot of "desert rats" and "oddballs" living out there. To me the desert represents a giant hell hole and the challenge of this idea was trying to figure out a resort that would actually be fun to visit in this ghastly and bizarre environment. This was certainly a challenge for me. I needed a building that could withstand incredible heat, cold, and just an incredibly hostile environment. It had to be refuge from the harsh reality of the outside environment. The Maquina 1 by Ad Hoc out of Murcia, Spain is the chosen building for this unique resort. Once again I would go with twelve of these set up. in a circular pattern. There would be a swimming pool in the middle of the circle made to look like a natural Tenaja.
This would be the perfect building for that particular environment.
What is so cool about these structures is they can be shipped in on a Flatbed Truck and then put in place by a crane.
Once in place the unit can be connected to plumbing and energy sources and is ready for use. These units can be set up for solar-energy collection and water recycling for  irrigation, and standard equipment for communication technology.
An open central area bracketed by a toilet on one end with core plant installation above, and full-height storage area at the other which has its own separate access.
Two sleeping areas are formed by bunk-like spaces that are tucked into an open mezzanine-style level, which is reached by a pair of ladders that fold down and extend. The warmth of the bamboo interior contrasts with the cool metallic skin, so that what appears as a stark, machine like form on the outside reveals itself to be stylish and inviting on the inside.
and looking the other way towards the living room.
And now a video of the Terlingua Area

Big Bend is a unique park. It is on the Mexican Border and it is very mysterious. There have been more deaths here in this park than any other. People have a habit of underestimating the dangers of the desert. You can die of heat exhaustion, hypothermia, lightning strike, drowning, falling off cliffs, and there have been a few murders. It is a very remote destination and my resort idea takes safety precautions by using the Maquina 1 to make it easier to get along with the desert so you can enjoy it.
